Dear Friends,
Welcome to all as we gather on Ascension Sunday. This feast is part of the Easter Season and celebrates the exaltation of the Risen Christ at the right hand of His Father in Heaven. Next Sunday the Easter Season concludes with Pentecost Sunday.
Again this Sunday, we are blest with the celebrations of First Holy Communion at several Masses. Please extend a warm welcome to our guests.
Congratulations to the 37 young people confirmed this past Wednesday by Archbishop Lori. As I mentioned prior, the Archbishop has determined that the normal age for confirmation in the archdiocese will be age 9. Our parish was part of a group of six parishes in the archdiocese that served as a “pilot” site for this new approach. Next year, will be a “catch-up” year in that we will attempt to prepare all children 9 years and older for confirmation. Stay tuned for further details.
It is graduation season! Congratulations to the 8th grade class of the School of the Incarnation (SOTI) who will celebrate their graduation Mass on Saturday (31st). SOTI is our regional Catholic school and is a wonderful option for parents who wish a Catholic education for their children. I encourage interested parents to visit the school’s website for more info.
The major service project of our parish for the summer season is “backpacks” for the children served by our sister parish in West Baltimore. Once again this year, Doug & Sue Casler will head up the project with the goal of collecting 300 backpacks! Details to follow.
Registration for Vacation Bible School (VBS) is underway. This popular program will take place the week of June 16th. Like last year, we expect a full enrollment of 75 children. Registration and information about VBS can be found on the parish webpage.
Finally, keep in your prayers the repose of the soul of Ernest Kerekes, stepfather of Bob Iacaruso. Bob and his wife Susan are well-known and active members of our parish. Mr. Kerekes’ funeral Mass will be held on Saturday (31st) in Johnstown, PA.
Be sure to wear RED next Sunday as we celebrate PENTECOST!!!
Have A Good Week!
