Dear Friends,
This is Corpus Christi Sunday, the yearly feast when the church reflects upon the place and importance of the Eucharist in our lives as Catholics. We believe that there is nothing more important in our spiritual lives than participation in and reception of the Eucharist which we hold to be the Body & Blood of the Risen Christ.
A “HUGE THANKS!” to Sarah Jarzembowski and her team of volunteers for another great Vacation Bible School (VBS). he campus was abuzz with young and energetic voices last week. The parish center and meeting rooms were transformed into venues for fun and learning about faith. It will be hard to top this year’s experience, but I know the team is up to the task!
On Saturday (21st) Archbishop Lori will ordain 5 men to the priesthood: Bienvenu Ilanga, James Lancelotta, Shiadrik Mokum, Alex Mwebaze and Thomas O’Donnell. Please pray for these new priests as they begin the journey of priestly life. (BTW – Bienvenu was at Seton as part of a learning team from St. Mary’s Seminary during the 2022-23 academic year).
I received a letter of “heartfelt congratulations and sincere gratitude” from Archbishop Lori this week for our parish having reached its goal for the 2025 Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. My thanks to all who contributed to the AACM which supports many worthy programs of outreach and pastoral care. The AACM continues thru the end of the calendar year.
SETON SENIORS PICNIC is this Wednesday (25th) from 11:30am-1:30pm in the parish center. I will leave it up to you whether or not you qualify as a senior. These monthly gatherings are very enjoyable.
As I have mentioned in past letters, parish leadership has been working with an architect to draft a “masterplan” for our parish campus and facilities. Our plan was presented to the Archdiocesan Building Commission on Wednesday (17th). I look forward to “socializing” the plan to the parish community over the summer months. This is all part of the effort to prepare our parish for the next generation as we celebrate our 50th anniversary in October 2026.
I will be on retreat this week with 70 other priests at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. Kindly remember us in your prayers. I will offer Mass as usual on Monday and Deacon Mike Fitz will lead communion services Tuesday thru Thursday at the normal time of 9AM.
Finally, keep in your prayers the repose of the souls of Kathy & Carl Kehoe. Kathy died on May 31st and Carl on June 6th. A memorial Mass is being planned for July 22 (Tuesday) at 11AM.
Have a Good Week!
Msgr. Woy
